Hi, I’m Amy! *Super excited face whilst attempting to shake hands*
This is exactly how I introduced myself on my first day of the university to my new housemates, and as new visitors to my website, I want to welcome you with the same enthusiasm.
I was interested in business from an early age when my grandparents both owned a deli. My grandparents produced and sold award-winning smoked salmon, smoked bacon, and Biltong. I spent my school holidays putting items into their till, making teas, and keeping their customers entertained.
I came up with my very first business slogan when I was 10 whilst in the car on the way to their shop. As their bacon was so popular they couldn’t make enough to meet demand. It was there I said,
“Who said Pigs can’t fly, Farjals bacon does, it
Farjals was the name of their bacon brand and since then I hear this slogan at most family gatherings.
Skip forward to the end 2016, when I sat in my corporate role between the notoriously quiet time between Christmas and New Year. It was then I wrote down in a notebook that 2017 would be the year I started a business. I had wanted to start a business back in 2014, however, I lacked confidence and was working for a company where a side job/ business was not an option.
During the three days between Christmas and new year, I wrote a very rough plan with dates attached. One date was by June 2017 to have my first client. I managed to get my first client by February, I was shocked, excited, and nervous. I knew then I had the opportunity and the services people wanted.
Trying something new and pushing myself is something which I have done throughout my life. Whether that’s moving to Singapore with my parents at 15, heading to university in 2006 to the Toon (Newcastle upon- Tyne), and eventually moving to the Isle of Man in 2011 where at the time I knew no-one!
How did a young 23-year-old end up moving to the Isle of Man not knowing anyone? My first role after I graduated University asked me to move over for one year, as I was ambitious and looking to get ahead I took the opportunity. I was moving away from all my friends and family in the UK to a small island I had to google prior to moving. I decided to make the most of my time on the island. I joined various clubs and took up old hobbies. I joined a local netball team which I still play for today. I even met my husband on the Island in that year.
Throughout my time as an Account Manager (5 years), I saw how I could add value to customers businesses, build exceptional relationships, grow customer revenue streams in multiple markets, and launch new products. I knew that I could offer this type service out to businesses and have a greater impact with less corporate constraints. I use the years of knowledge and experience gained in my corporate role and apply this to each of my customers.
My greatest achievement in my corporate role was taking my client from 6 figure months to 7 figure months in 2 years!
What excites me the most about what I do? It’s the satisfaction I get from reaching that goal, launching that product, or getting excellent customer feedback.
